A little bit of history about the castle of Montaupin through the ages...
The Château de Montaupin is located in the south of Oizé, in Sarthe. Rebuilt on the site of an ancient Roman temple, then of a feudal castle of the XIth and XIIth century, the oldest part of the current castle (dovecote, country gite) dates from the XVth century. The majority of this splendid castle dates from the 18th century. The typical part of the XIXth century was rebuilt by the de La Porte family with its wooden lounges decorated with paintings representing bucolic landscapes. The coat of arms of the La Porte family stands above the entrance door.
